Mobile apps built for
the phones Kenyans use.

Android-first for the Kenyan market — budget devices, patchy networks, M-PESA payments — with iOS covered from the same codebase where it makes sense.

who this is for

Sound familiar?

  • Businesses whose customers live on Android — which in Kenya is most of them
  • Teams needing field apps that work offline and sync later
  • Founders who need one codebase shipping to both stores

the honest bit

What it costs.

MVP apps typically land KES 150,000–400,000; business apps with backend, admin and payments run KES 250,000–800,000+. Details in my mobile app cost breakdown for Kenya. Often the right answer is a web app first — read web app vs mobile app and I'll tell you which I'd build.

deliverables

What you get.

01

Flutter & React Native builds — one codebase, both app stores, near-native performance.

02

Native Kotlin where it counts — performance-critical Android features get native treatment.

03

M-PESA in-app payments — STK Push initiated server-side so credentials never touch the device.

04

Offline-first architecture — local storage and sync queues so the app works between masts.

05

Backend + admin included — the app is the tip; I build the API, database and dashboard it runs on.

06

Store publishing handled — Play Store and App Store listings, review submissions and update pipelines.

how it ships

The process.

step 1

Scoping

What the app must do, which features are V1, which wait — honest cut, not a wishlist quote.

step 2

Prototype

Tappable design you approve before development starts.

step 3

Build & device testing

Tested on the actual device range your customers carry — not just the latest flagship.

step 4

Launch & iterate

Store submission, crash monitoring, then releases based on real usage. 30-day defect warranty included.

proof

Relevant work.

Not mockups — systems running in production.

faq

Straight answers.

Should I build for Android or iOS first?

In Kenya, Android holds the overwhelming majority — start there, or use Flutter to ship both from one codebase. iOS makes sense when your audience is premium or diaspora.

How long does an app take?

A focused MVP: 4–8 weeks. A business app with backend and payments: 3–6 months, phased so you can launch core features first.

Can the app share my existing website's backend?

Yes — that's the preferred pattern. Build the API once, then web and mobile are both front-ends on it.

What about USSD?

For feature-phone reach, USSD sits alongside the app rather than inside it — I plan the backend so both channels can be served.

Describe what the app must do — I'll tell you honestly whether it should be an app, and what it costs if so.

Written scope, honest pricing, 30-day defect warranty on everything I ship.
