PataGas
Ordering cooking gas shouldn't need a phone call. PataGas put Jatel's whole LPG operation online — catalog, checkout, dispatch.
The brief
Jatel Company sold gas the way everyone did — call the shop, hope they have your brand, negotiate delivery. PataGas turned it into a real e-commerce flow: browse, pay by M-PESA, track the order.
The interesting constraint: Kenya's LPG market is multi-brand. The catalog carries Jatel, K-Gas, Hashi, Total and more, with per-size pricing across cylinders and refills.
What I built
- Multi-brand catalog — Jatel, K-Gas, Hashi and Total across cylinder sizes, refills and accessories.
- Cart & M-PESA checkout — STK push payment with automatic order confirmation.
- Delivery workflow — zones, fees and a dispatch pipeline from paid → dispatched → delivered.
- Order tracking — customers see status without calling the shop.
- Admin console — catalog, pricing, zones and order management.
Under the hood
The dispatch pipeline is a simple state machine — the value is that it maps exactly to how the business actually works. Orders paid by M-PESA enter the queue automatically; delivery staff update status from phones; customers get notified at each step.
Where it is now
PataGas took a phone-and-paper operation digital end-to-end. It's the kind of unglamorous, high-impact build I like — real stock, real deliveries, real revenue through M-PESA.
